Green-building certification

BREEAM Certification

BREEAM is the longest-running building sustainability assessment method, scored by licensed assessors on evidence gathered across the whole project. We hold the assessor role in-house, so the assessment stays close to the engineering it describes.

What is BREEAM?

BREEAM, developed by BRE in the UK, assesses buildings across management, health, energy, transport, water, materials, waste, land use, pollution and innovation. Scoring runs through a licensed BREEAM Assessor, with ratings from Pass to Outstanding and local weightings that adjust the scheme to each market.

The method is evidence-based and stage-linked: credits are claimed at design stage and confirmed at post-construction, which means substitutions and site changes carry certification consequences, and are worth following as they happen.

Danilo Franchi, our Sustainability Director, is a BREEAM International Assessor, and we are a BREEAM Licensed Assessor Company. Because the assessor works alongside our engineers, questions about a credit can be answered with the engineering in view, and the evidence file can grow with the project rather than being assembled at the end.
the process

How BREEAM certification works

step 01

Pre-assessment

A scoring workshop establishing the achievable rating, the target credits and what each one asks of the design.
step 02

Design stage

Credit evidence assembled as the design develops, with the interim assessment submitted for design-stage certification.
step 03

Construction

Site evidence, substitution reviews and commissioning records tracked so the post-construction assessment confirms what the design stage promised.
step 04

Certification

Final assessment, QA through BRE, and the certificate at the rating the building earned.
why energo

Why choose Energo for BREEAM?

A BREEAM rating is confirmed after construction, but the decisions that secure it are made much earlier: in the brief, the specification and the routines on site. Our role is to make those decisions visible while they are still easy to act on.
01 Assessment

A licensed assessor company

We are a BREEAM Licensed Assessor Company, so the assessment is carried out within our practice, from the pre-assessment workshop to the final certificate.
02 geography

Local weightings and codes

BREEAM International adjusts its weightings to each country. We work with them against local building codes and climate across Serbia, Italy, Switzerland and the wider region.
03 engineering

Engineering behind the credits

Energy, water and indoor environment credits rest on engineering evidence. When a project needs it, our MEP engineers, energy modellers and testing team can produce that evidence directly.
04 site

Evidence followed on site

Many credits are confirmed on site. We follow substitutions, site waste and commissioning records as they happen, so the post-construction assessment confirms what the design stage set out.
