The Prologis Logistic Center

LEED Core & Shell Gold for the Prologis logistics centre in Settimo Torinese, about 15,000 m² and the first LEED CS certified building in Italy. We administered the process, advised all designers and contractors, and delivered energy modelling, daylight simulations and commissioning.

the brief

Italy's first LEED Core & Shell certified building

The Prologis logistics centre in Settimo Torinese was the first building in Italy to achieve LEED Core & Shell certification, reaching LEED Gold. The centre covers approximately 15,000 m².

On behalf of Prologis as property owner, we acted as LEED Process Administrator and as LEED Consultant for all designers and companies, in both the design and construction stages.

Our technical work supported the certification throughout:

  • energy modelling, to inform decisions on the building's energy performance;
  • daylight simulations, to understand how natural light reaches the interior;
  • commissioning, in our role as Commissioning Authority.

Being first carries a particular responsibility. With no Italian LEED Core & Shell precedent to follow, the project relied on clear guidance and close coordination to show what the certification could look like in practice, and it helped open the way for the projects that followed.

A short call is usually enough to tell whether the certification target and the engineering can be made to agree from the start. We can talk through where the constraints are likely to sit, what the rating realistically requires of the building, and how the two come together before any drawings are committed.
