DGNB is the certification system of the German Sustainable Building Council. It assesses ecological, economic and sociocultural quality together across the building's life cycle, with lifecycle assessment and lifecycle costing at its core. An international version of the system is used in countries without a local DGNB partner.
The training is delivered by a DGNB trainer and leaves ample room to discuss DGNB and current approaches to sustainable development. It follows the content of the International DGNB Consultant qualification.
The DGNB evaluation methodology, taught through workshops, teamwork sessions and a building survey.
The basics of the system and how certification works.
The DGNB system for districts.
Lifecycle assessment and lifecycle costing in building certification.
User comfort, technical quality and process quality in certification.
Applying selected criteria with the DGNB tools.
Reading a real building against the criteria.
Working on projects in DGNB markets.
Contributing to the lifecycle and comfort criteria.
Adding DGNB to their services.
Active in Germany, Austria, Switzerland or Denmark.
Whose products feed DGNB lifecycle data.
A comprehensive knowledge of the DGNB evaluation methodology and its criteria.
Practical experience applying the criteria in workshops and on a real building.
Preparation for the International DGNB Consultant exam.
Discussion of real projects with a practising DGNB auditor.
After the training, participants can sit the International DGNB Consultant exam, an online multiple-choice test taken within 24 months. Admission requires a relevant degree with professional experience, or vocational training in construction or real estate with five years of experience. Passing brings the International DGNB Consultant title, a listing on the DGNB website, and qualification as an International DGNB Auditor after a first certified project.
