the brief

Project management for an airport cargo hangar

In 2002 we provided project management services for the new cargo hangar at Milan Malpensa Airport, working for Cofely GDF Suez. The hangar covers approximately 8,000 m².

Airports are complex environments. Construction has to fit around ongoing operations, strict safety rules and many parties working at once. A new cargo facility also needs to be ready on time, as it supports the flow of goods that the airport depends on.

Project management brings structure to this complexity. It coordinates people, schedules and technical decisions so that the work progresses in an orderly way and the finished facility meets its purpose.

This assignment forms part of our aviation infrastructure portfolio, which also includes work at Otopeni Airport in Bucharest and La Porta di Milano at Malpensa.

A short call is usually enough to tell whether the certification target and the engineering can be made to agree from the start. We can talk through where the constraints are likely to sit, what the rating realistically requires of the building, and how the two come together before any drawings are committed.
