the brief

Marine HVAC design for a fleet tanker

We prepared the preliminary design of HVAC systems and ship-service controls for the Indian Fleet Tanker project. The assignment was carried out through Consorzio Tecnologico Energo Irico Euroelettrica, working for Fincantieri.

Designing HVAC for a ship brings its own set of conditions. Space is limited, systems must cope with the motion and climate of life at sea, and crew spaces, technical rooms and service areas each need to be served reliably far from shore.

Ship-service controls link these systems together, so that they can be operated and monitored as one coherent whole.

A careful preliminary design sets the direction for all the work that follows. This project applied our mechanical engineering expertise to the marine environment and forms part of our specialist marine portfolio.

A short call is usually enough to tell whether the certification target and the engineering can be made to agree from the start. We can talk through where the constraints are likely to sit, what the rating realistically requires of the building, and how the two come together before any drawings are committed.
