We assessed the ventilation design for the BIG Fashion Mall car park in Novi Sad using a performance-based CFD approach. The shopping centre covers approximately 30,000 m².
For emergency operation, the study addressed two safety objectives:
For normal operation, we verified that the ventilation system is able to dilute pollutants from vehicles, keeping the car park a healthy place for the people who use it every day.
A performance-based approach tests a design against the outcomes it needs to achieve, rather than relying only on prescriptive rules. Computational fluid dynamics makes those outcomes visible, showing how air and smoke are likely to move through the space.
