For the Soprintendenza ai Beni Culturali, we developed preliminary, detailed and workshop designs for the mechanical, HVAC and plumbing systems at Bellusco Castle. The project concerns approximately 950 m².
The work examined the thermal behaviour of the building and proposed solutions to improve its internal climate, with particular attention to the conservation needs of the historic interiors and frescoes.
In heritage buildings, the indoor climate is about more than comfort. Temperature and humidity affect the materials that make a place historically valuable, and painted surfaces are especially sensitive to change. Systems have to be introduced with care, respecting both the fabric of the building and the people who use it.
By understanding how the castle behaves before proposing interventions, we could shape the design around what the building and its frescoes need.
