Radiance Simulation

The use of computational fluid dynamics is very useful for the interpretation and preservation of heritage.

Fluid dynamic simulations in the heritage field focus not only on slow air movement in indoor spaces (involving temperature and humidity) but on outdoor too.

Simulations have different roles: they may be exploratory, they may be used to support preventive conservation and occasionally they aid historical or archaeological interpretation.

Our study allow to quantify impacts of atmospheric forcing on Cultural Heritage monuments and artwork (paints, frescoes etc.) using Computational Fluid Dynamics we can provide spatially  and temporally resolved boundary conditions and effects on the artwork or monument  in order to examine the hydrothermal and mechanical performance of  materials.
